The Rocky Mountain RoughRiders would like to congratulate the RoughRiders that were selected in the USHL Phase I Draft that was held on Monday, May 6, 2019. Phase I of the USHL Draft is ten rounds of “Futures” age players only, which are U17 players for next year’s season; 2003 birth year players for the 2019 draft.
Calvin Osterberger was selected in the 5th Round by the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders. Osterberger, a 5'9" Forward from Boise, ID played on the 15U team during the 2018-19 season. "We are so excited for Cal and congratulate him on achieving his goal of getting drafted in Phase 1. It's cliche, but Cal truly is a better person than he is a hockey player. His intangibles coupled with his skill and work ethic make him the total package. Cedar Rapids has a future leader on their hands," said Coach O'Leary.
Dana "Ocean" Wallace was selected in the 8th Round by the Youngstown Phantoms. Wallace, a 6'1" Forward from Boulder, CO, was a member of the Rocky Mountain RoughRiders 12U Tournament team, 13U team and 14U team from 2015-2018. "We are very proud of Ocean. He has worked very hard up to this point and he is passionate about hockey. Ocean will develop into an excellent USHL player as he continues to pursue his dream of playing college hockey," said Coach Vanover.
Congratulations to each of these players and their families. The RoughRiders wish each of you continued success in your future hockey careers.
