Rocky Mountain RoughRiders, proud members of the NAPHL, are pleased to announce that 16U defensemen, Caleb Brownell (6'1”/165), has signed a North American Hockey League (NAHL) tender agreement* with the Amarillo Bulls. The Bulls are members of the NAHL’s South Division.
Brownell ('02), 17, native of Ft. Collins, CO, was part of the 16U team during the 2017-18 and 2018-19 seasons. Caleb began playing with the Rocky Mountain RoughRiders during the 2015-16 season on the 13UAAA team. Brownell played 29 NAPHL games with the RoughRiders over the last two seasons and has 5 points.
"We are excited for Caleb. He has had to overcome a lot of obstacles the past two seasons and has worked incredibly hard to earn this opportunity" said Coach Vanover.
Brownell is the first 16U player this season to sign an NAHL Tender.
Congratulations to Caleb! We look forward to watching your future hockey successes.
*A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders, which include two (2) tenders exclusively used on players from the NAPHL - plus or minus any trades - which became active on Nov. 1. Tendered players are not eligible for the NAHL draft, which will be held on June 4, 2019.
