The Rocky Mountain RoughRiders are excited to announce that Makai Mitchell ('02) signed a standard WHL Player Agreement with the Regina Pats Hockey Club.
Mitchell (6’1, 192 lbs) was listed by the Pats during the 2017-18 season and attended his first training camp in Regina in late August.
“We are really excited about this signing,” said Pats General Manager John Paddock. “Makai was very impressive at training camp and we couldn’t be happier that he chose the WHL and the Regina Pats.”
"Makai is a perfect example for players that don't get drafted at the age of 14. Four of Makai's U14 teammates were drafted in the WHL two years ago. Makai is a big kid and his body wasn't ready at 14. Two years later, he is drafted in the USHL and signs a contract with the WHL. He was patient and put in the work, " said Coach Huckins.
Congratulations to Makai and his family!
