Greg Vanover

Greg Vanover began coaching full time in 2000 with the Alliance Youth Hockey Association in Dallas, Texas.  He is now entering his 12th year as a Tier I hockey coach. The past eight years he has been with the Pikes Peak Miners in Colorado Springs.
Coach Vanover was instrumental in helping build the Texas Alliance program from three teams to nationally recognized contenders for National Championships at both the Tier I and Tier II levels.  He spent eight years with the Alliance Organization.  He has coached at every level and since 2004 has coached at the Tier I level (14U/16U/18U).
Recognized as being a top player development coach and instructor at the Tier I level, Greg was selected by USA Hockey and Texas Amateur Hockey Association to take the reigns of Team Southwest for high school hockey’s prestigious Chicago Showcase. Under his direction, Team Southwest moved up the ladder to reach play in the same divisions as Michigan, Minnesota and Massachusetts - a major accomplishment for Texas High School Hockey.  He also led the Coppell Cowboys to the Rocky Mountain District High School Championship, another first for Texas High School Hockey.
From 2004 to 2012, Greg was selected by USA Hockey to be a Coach/Evaluator at the Rocky Mountain District Player Development Camps.  He has also been a Coach/Evaluator for the USA Hockey 14U and 15U National Select Festivals from 2008 to 2012.
In addition to his coaching accomplishments on the ice, Coach Vanover has a Masters of Education Degree in Exercise Physiology.  With this, Greg has worked with the Dallas Stars Rookie Camp of the NHL where he helped Strength and Conditioning Coach JJ McQueen with the off-ice program.  Greg has his Masters Level 5 Coaching Certification and has also been a presenter for the USA Hockey Coaching Education Program where he presented Year Round Off Ice Conditioning for Hockey for Level 4 coaches.
In 2008 Greg and his wife Allison moved to Colorado to coach the 18U team for the Pikes Peak Miners Program.  He led that team to a #12 National Ranking, Colorado State Championship and Rocky Mountain District Runners Up.  In his eight years with the Miners 18U team, Greg has moved over 60 players to the USHL, NAHL and other various Junior hockey leagues.  Greg has an excellent reputation amongst the Junior hockey community as a player development coach, an advocate for his players and for preparing those players to be successful at the Junior level.  In addition to those responsibilities, Greg is a Senior Consultant to the Tri City Storm of the USHL.
Greg is passionate about player development, character and accountability both on and off the ice.  He works diligently with Junior programs and colleges on his players behalf and continues his role as coach and mentor far beyond the season for their continued success and benefit.

Greg, Allison and their son Noah live in Superior, Colorado with their Australian Shepherd, Bronco.
