BILLETING INFORMATION
Billeting is a valued hockey tradition and an important part of the RoughRiders program. Each season, players from across the country and beyond come to Colorado to pursue their hockey dreams, and our billet families help make that possible by providing a home away from home. Players needing a billet are typically between the ages of 15 and 18 years old.
Our billet families offer a safe and welcoming environment that allows players to focus on their growth both on and off the ice. Living away from home can be a big adjustment, and the RoughRiders strive to ensure each player feels supported and part of a family. In return, players are expected to be respectful, responsible, and actively contribute to their host household.
Being a billet family is a rewarding experience. Lasting connections often form between players, their families, and their hosts, with many staying in touch for years to come. We deeply value the generosity of our billet families and the vital role they play in the RoughRiders experience.
If you’re interested in becoming part of our billet family network, please contact our Billet Coordinator, Greg Vanover at gvanover@ridertownusa.com to learn more about hosting a RoughRiders player for the upcoming season.

Testimonials
"Opening our home to a RoughRiders player has been one of the most rewarding experiences our family has shared. From the moment each of our billets joined us, they became part of our daily life, sharing meals, cheering alongside us at games, and creating lasting memories with our son. It’s been amazing to watch our son look up to Lincoln and Charlie, learn about dedication and teamwork, and see firsthand the commitment it takes to play at this level. What started as offering a place to stay quickly turned into gaining a lifelong family member. Being a billet family has brought so much joy, laughter, and pride into our home, and we’re grateful to be part of the RoughRiders community in such a meaningful way. "

"Being a billet family has a unique and cherished place in our hearts. Each August, our family expands with the arrival of new players. When we learned about the need for billet families at RoughRiders, we were thrilled to participate. Since our son plays youth hockey, we wanted to experience the billet process firsthand, envisioning a time when he might have the opportunity to billet with another family. Despite some initial nerves, the moment we met our first player, we knew it would be a memorable year.
After our first year, we were completely captivated and eagerly anticipated the arrival of new billets each year. These players and their families become an integral part of our lives. Even after they leave, we continue to follow their journeys and maintain connections. We wholeheartedly recommend this experience to anyone with a passion for hockey and a willingness to open their hearts and homes to a remarkable adventure. The days can be hectic, but once they return to their hometowns, you'll miss the lively energy—those late-night snack raids and the enthusiastic shouts during video game sessions."
